Viet Tan - the Pinnacle of
Hypocrisy - a political
organization ready to push many of
its members to imprisonment. Yet, shamelessly, it has then initiated a campaign
entitled “Speak Out!” to mobilize overseas Vietnamese to sign a petition to ask
for their release. Without understanding, many Vietnamese with a heart for the
country have answered this call.
At the same time, SBTN, a propaganda tool of Viet Tan, has established
the Human Rights for Vietnam Political Action Committee to raise money among
overseas Vietnamese diasporas for imprisoned “patriotic Catholic youths”. Many
have wholeheartedly participated. In just one day, SBTN raised 51.000 USD. Over
the past 4 years, in total they reported to the U.S. government that they had
raised an amount of 336.000 USD, which might not include contributions in cash.
And they have sent to those 14 “patriotic Catholic youths” just 250 USD per person and only once in the
whole 4 years.
This is the same old tricks which
Viet Tan once employed under the National United Front for the Liberation of
Vietnam. At that time, they sent countless patriotics to death and
imprisonment. They then advertised fake achievements on the newspaper
“Resistance” to call for contributions from overseas Vietnamese diasporas.
Having received a lot of money, they still left their followers hungry in the
forest. Many were executed for “stealing” only a few spoonfuls of sugar and coffee
from the leadership of the “resistance”.
Recently, VietTimes newspaper of Viet Tan published an interview with
Doctor Dang Vu Chan, Member of Viet Tan Central Committee. He said that his
party felt insulted as it was accused of abandoning its members:
“This is an accusation which insults all Viet Tan members because each
of us is proud of our long-lasting traditions. That is companionship and the
spirit of never leaving someone behind. This tradition dates back to the 1980s,
when our first members overcame a dangerous journey to seek ways to fight on
the motherland soil. If not for the companionship and mutual support, we might
not have been able to overcome such difficulties in the past, and Viet Tan
would not have lasted till present.”
“… To us, each member is an integral part of Viet Tan big family. We
live and die together and never abandon one another in danger. The close
connection among Viet Tan members inside and outside the country is the
evidence for that.”
I would like to ask
Doctor Chan some questions.
Is Ms. Lilly Ngoc Hieu Nguyen
in the following picture a member of
Viet Tan? She was the spokesperson of the 6th International
Vietnamese Youth Conference, a meeting held by Viet Tan in Manila , Philippines
on August 4-7, 2011.
On August 8, 2011, Ms. Lilly Ngoc Hieu Nguyen denounced Thai Van Dung as an undercover police on RFA, then publicized
his birthday and hometown: “the policeman named Thai Van Dung born on June 3,
1988 impersonating to participate in the Congress was discovered and expelled in
the Congress.”
Is it true that Thai Van Dung was then arrested by the police for
interrogation on his way to Noi Bai airport?
Is it true that Nguyen Van Duyet, a friend of Thai Van Dung, was
arrested right after that?
And is it true that Ho Van Oanh, Tran Minh Nhat, Nguyen Dinh Cuong
were also arrested?
By the end of 2011, a total of 14
patriotic Catholic youths were arrested. In early 2013, they were sentenced
to 86 years of imprisonment and 34 years of probation.
Are Thai Van Dung, Nguyen Van
Duyet, Ho Van Oanh, Tran Minh Nhat, Nguyen Dinh Cuong… all Viet Tan
members?
And then were tens of Viet Tan members in the same Catholic group of
Thai Van Dung forced to leave their home for hiding until present?
If they are true, were brothers and sisters in “Viet Tan big family” -
in Doctor Chan’s words - harming one
another, pushing one another into imprisonment and forcing one another to go
into hiding and separate their families?
Moreover, the raids and arrests by the police also had serious
consequences to the whole youth movement of Vinh diocese.
Therefore, it is not surprising that Viet Tan “used and casted aside”
Mr. Huynh Ba Hai, and the one to do that was Ms. Lilly Ngoc Hieu Nguyen as Mr.
Hai said.
Is this a tradition of Viet Tan as Doctor Chan said, “dates back to
the 1980s”?
While waiting for the answer of Doctor Chan as the representative of
the Viet Tan Central Committee, I would like to ask for your help if you still
have old Resistance papers. Please send me a copy or the original version and I
will return them after copying them. Or it is best if you can scan them and
send me through email. I am collecting information to send them to the FBI. I
would like to express my thanks beforehand. All sources will be kept secret.
One week ago, an international human
rights organization with the assistance of a legal firm in the U.S. sent a
letter to the FBI for re-opening the investigation of the Front / Viet Tan.
Therefore, I need more information about their activities. We are waiting for
the confirmation date. To help the human rights organization, I would like to
ask for your signatures in the following petition. This petition asks the FBI
to re-open the investigation of the murder of Vietnamese American journalists
which primary suspect is the Front, Viet Tan’s tool for violence. As of
present, there are 976 names on the petition.
I also want to ask the RFA to expand its investigation since the Radio
has clearly let Viet Tan use it as a communications tool to hand Thai Van Dung
and his Catholic youth group to the Vietnamese police. Attached to this is the
letter I sent to the RFA.
